Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information MEMORIA collects through memoria.photo, when you contact us, and when we deliver your photographs; why; who helps us handle it; and the choices you have. MEMORIA is a photography studio in the Charlotte area, photographing weddings, couples and love stories, and portraits, and available for sessions across the U.S.
It covers this website, inquiries and email conversations with us, and the online galleries we use to deliver photographs to our clients. It does not describe every part of working with us — the terms of a booking, for example, are set out in the agreement for that booking.
If you have a question about your information, write to us at hello@memoria.photo.
What we collect
When you contact us. Whether you use the contact form or write to hello@memoria.photo directly, we receive what you choose to tell us. Through the form, that is:
- your full name and email address;
- your phone number, if you add one;
- the service you are asking about;
- your event date, city and state, and venue or location, if you add them;
- your message.
When we write to each other by email, we keep the messages and the contact details that come with them.
If you accept analytics cookies, we also keep a short note about how you arrived at the site and store it with any inquiry you send: the page you were on when the note was made (without any part of the address after “?”), the domain name of the website you came from (for example, “instagram.com”), and any campaign tags in the link you followed (such as utm_source=instagram). The note is kept in your browser’s session storage for that tab; browsers normally clear session storage when the tab or browsing session is closed. Campaign tags are part of the link you followed, so they contain whatever text that link carried. If you accept on a later page, the note describes that page and may not show where your visit began. If you have not chosen, or you reject analytics cookies, we do not create this note, and any note left from earlier in the same tab is removed and not sent.
To protect the contact form from spam and abuse, we use Cloudflare Turnstile, which processes technical information such as your IP address and browser details, and the identifiers it needs, to tell people from automated traffic. Separately, our own server uses your network address and the email address entered in the form to limit how often the form can be submitted.
When you browse the site, our hosting provider handles the technical information every website receives, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver the site and keep it secure.
Client galleries. If you book us, we deliver your photographs in an online gallery hosted by Pic-Time. We upload your photographs there ourselves, as part of our service to you. If we invite you to your gallery by email, Pic-Time receives the email address we use for that invitation. When you or your guests visit a gallery, Pic-Time collects information about that visit as described in its own privacy policy.
Website analytics. If you choose “Accept all” in our cookie banner, we use Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to understand how visitors use the site as a whole — for example, which pages are viewed, roughly where visits come from, and how many inquiries are sent. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies and collects information such as pages visited, approximate location, device and browser details, and the referring website. Until you choose, and if you choose “Reject all”, our site does not load Google Tag Manager or Google Analytics.
We set analytics up so that what you type into our contact form — your name, email, phone number, message and your other answers — is not sent to Google Analytics, with one exception: when an inquiry is sent, Analytics receives that an inquiry happened together with the general type of service you selected (weddings, couples, portraits or other). Google’s advertising features, ad personalization and Google signals are not used. To learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
We do not use cookies for advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.
Cookies and similar storage
- Your cookie choice. We save your answer in your browser’s local storage so we do not ask on every page. The saved record contains the choice and when it was made, and it stays in your browser. If you accept, our site tells Google’s tags that analytics storage is allowed and advertising storage is not, so Google receives this consent status along with the analytics data. We ask again after about six months, or sooner if what analytics is used for changes.
- Spam protection. Cloudflare Turnstile runs on the contact page to protect the form, as described above. It is needed for the form to work and does not depend on your analytics choice.
- Analytics (optional). Google Analytics cookies, such as _ga, are set only after you choose “Accept all”.
- Your inquiry, across a reload. If you withdraw analytics consent while writing or sending an inquiry, analytics stops at once; any sending is allowed to finish, and then the page reloads. Just for that reload, your browser keeps in session storage for that tab either a note that your inquiry was received, or what you had typed with a reference that lets pressing Send again count as the same inquiry rather than a new one. It is put back into the page and then removed. It stays in your browser and is not sent to us until you press Send.
How we use it
- to read and reply to your inquiries and emails, and to plan and discuss a session or wedding with you;
- to keep a record of the inquiries we receive and our correspondence with you;
- to deliver your photographs to you through your client gallery;
- to keep the site and the form working and protected from spam and abuse;
- if you accept analytics cookies, to understand which pages and channels bring people to us, so we can improve the site and our marketing.
Who helps us
We use a small number of service providers that handle information on our behalf:
- Netlify — hosts the website;
- Supabase — stores the website’s content and the inquiries you send;
- Resend — sends an email notification of your inquiry from our website to our studio inbox;
- Porkbun — hosts our studio email (hello@memoria.photo), where inquiry notifications and our email conversations with you are kept;
- Cloudflare (Turnstile) — spam and bot protection on the contact form;
- Pic-Time — hosts the online galleries in which we deliver photographs to our clients (Pic-Time privacy policy);
- Google (Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics) — website analytics, only if you accept analytics cookies.
These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies. We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.
Where information is processed
MEMORIA works in the United States. The providers above may store or process information in the United States and in other countries where they or their own providers operate — Pic-Time, for example, states that its servers are located in the EU, the US and Australia. Each provider handles information under its own terms.
Links to other sites
Our site links to other places, such as our Instagram profile. Their own privacy policies apply when you visit them.
Your choices
- Analytics. You choose in the cookie banner, and you can change your mind at any time with “Cookie settings” at the foot of every page. Rejecting analytics does not affect the contact form or anything else on the site. If you withdraw your consent, analytics stops on this site from then on and we delete the Google Analytics cookies our site can reach; information already sent to Google before that is not deleted by this. Your choice is saved in the browser you used, so another browser or device will ask again. Google also offers a Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on for supported desktop browsers (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout).
- Browser signals. This site does not currently change how it works in response to “Do Not Track” or similar browser privacy signals. Please use the cookie banner or “Cookie settings” to make your choice.
- Your information. You can ask us to show you, correct or delete the information you have given us — through the contact form, by email, or in connection with your client gallery — by writing to hello@memoria.photo. We will respond within a reasonable time. We may need to confirm that the request comes from you, and we may keep some information where we need it to complete work with you, to keep business records required by law, or to resolve a dispute.
How long we keep it
We keep inquiries, email correspondence and client galleries for as long as we need them to respond to you, to work with you and deliver your photographs, and to keep reasonable business records. You can ask us to delete your information at any time, as described above.
Google Analytics data is kept according to the data retention settings in our Google Analytics account.
Photographs on this site
Photographs of our clients appear on this site with their permission. This is separate from delivering your photographs to you in your client gallery. If you appear in a photograph on this site and have a concern about it, or would like it removed, write to hello@memoria.photo. We will review your request and reply to you.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and restricted, multi-factor-protected access to our site administration. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
Our site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them through the site. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the new version on this page and change the effective date above. If a change is significant, we will also note it clearly on this page.
